About Me
My name is Marie Guarnieri, and I am speech language pathologist and an independent college consultant with a passion for helping my clients achieve a successful transition after high school.

I have over a decade of experience as a speech language pathologist working with clients of all ages in a variety of settings, including public schools, serving students with various learning disabilities, offering social skills groups and executive function coaching.

While working as a speech language pathologist, I first encountered the college consulting world by volunteering as a college mentor for first generation students, and trained to become a Certified Independent Educational Consultant.
I am a firm believer that every student should have the opportunity to go to college no matter their challenges and that, given the right guidance, students will thrive in a college that matches their strengths and needs.
My work focuses on the whole individual to ensure that the transition to college is successful. I want to make sure that each student is set up for success, with the right school for them, the skills to form positive peer relationships, self advocacy skills and executive function skills to help manage the demands of college.

I work closely with my clients and their families to provide a holistic, strength-based, and neurodiversity affirming approach to therapy, highlighting my clients’ wishes, strengths and personal goals.

I am an Associate Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), certified with the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) and hold a certificate as a Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) in New York State, and is Bilingual Certified by Columbia Teachers College. Additionally, I am certified as an IBCCES Certified Student Mental Health Specialist (SMHS), and is a certified provider for UCLA PEERS®.
With a passion for continuous learning and staying up-to-date with new research and advancements, I am also a two-time recipient of the ACE Award, a formal recognition of professionals who have demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning, awarded by the American Speech and Hearing Association.
